This vintage Elgin wristwatch presents a metallic silver-tone analog dial with applied baton hour markers, a circular Elgin emblem, and slim central hands. The dial is signed ELGIN and carries 17 JEWELS, SELF-WINDING, and AMERICAN MADE markings that give the watch a distinctly mid-century American character.
The round silver-tone case has straight, faceted lugs and a signed period-style case back with water-, shock-, dust-, and magnetic-resistance wording. Its self-winding mechanical movement is designed to run without a battery, although no operational claim is made for this example.

Vintage condition: The acrylic crystal is severely cracked across the lower half, with branching fractures, deep scratches, clouding, and trapped-looking grime that obscure portions of the dial. The dial is heavily stained and oxidized, its printing is faint, and the applied markers and hands are tarnished. The case, lugs, crown, and case back are extensively scratched, scuffed, dulled, and spotted. The self-winding movement and timekeeping have not been tested. It has no band or strap.
